I just finished watching Captive State (2019) -a sci-fi thriller with a star-studded cast. I found the plot hard to follow as you really need to watch very closely and a few too many dark scenes to comprehend.
The film stars John Goodman, Ashton Sanders, Alan Ruck and Vera Farmiga,
the plot follows a young man who participates in the Phoenix ‘Chicago’ resistance who conspires to rebel against an alien race that has invaded and occupied Earth, the aliens enforce strict martial law on all humans. If you disobey you are either liquidated or taken off-world as slave labour.
We never learn where the aliens are from or what exactly are their plans? Average scifi film watched online 👍 tagline of the film ‘Light a match. Ignite a war. #covidlockdown2021
The Rating: 2 out of 4.

Nicolas Cage's latest offering, Pig (2021), doesn't live up to the hype.
I feel like most of Cage's previous indie releases outshine Pig in a lot of ways. I think the trailer hyped the movie too much. Oscar worthy performance by Cage (always except for The Wicker Man) but the screenplay renders the movie monotonous and the film itself doesn't fall short of "I Have Seen It All Before".
A young African-American boy must arrange enough money to pay his landlord and also for the treatment of his ailing mother. He joins the local robbers gang and goes to steal money from his landlord's family who lives in a huge and highly secured mansion. When he gets inside, he discovers something that he didn't expect.
This is a very popular and talked about Wes Craven movie from the early 90s. Though I have got mostly positive reviews about this one, I personally didn't like it that much. It's supposed to be a 'Dark Comedy', but the comic elements in the movie seemed forced and ineffective, in my opinion. It's a bit too long and at times felt dragged....but, yeah, some parts of it are genuinely thrilling and entertaining. To be honest, it isn't my cup of tea overall.
A summer camp caretaker gets horribly burnt after a prank went wrong. He returns for revenge after five years and starts slaughtering teenagers.
Another memorable camping horror movie from the 80s involving a lot of brutal kills, sex and cheese. This is one of the underrated camping horror slashers that didn't become as popular as Friday the 13th or Sleepaway Camp. The gore effects are amazing and the music is good too. Though the acting and dialogue are not up to the mark, this movie is scary and enjoyable. A good addition to the innumerable number of slashers the 80s are so well known for. I liked it a lot.
